Lithium batteries are commonly used in our daily electronics like phones and laptops, as well as in larger setups like solar and backup power installations. However, if these batteries are mishandled, overcharged, or overheated due to incorrect installation and use, they can catch fire.
Such fires are usually accompanied by thermal runaway within cells and thermal propagation between cells. To have any chance of stopping both thermal runaway and preventing thermal propagation, high-performance properties are required of a fire extinguishing agent.
To prevent or even arrest thermal runaway requires significant cooling action to interrupt the unstable chemical process, and to prevent thermal propagation we must provide a thermal insulation or ‘Fireblock’ between cells.

Fireblock is an insurance-compliant and BSI Kitemark-accredited lithium battery fire extinguisher. Fireblock Lithium must be serviced annually by a BSI or SANS approved company and SAQCC registered technician. Refilling must be done by FIREBLOCK if required.
