Nelson Mandela Day: Let’s Clean Up Zandvlei

Nelson Mandela’s birthday now celebrated as Nelson Mandela Day on 18 July, is just around the corner. In honour of Madiba’s legacy of changing the world for the better, businesses and individuals are invited to participate in making a positive difference on the day. would like to uphold this ethos by supporting the local community and promoting change for good.

Cleaning Up Zandvlei

zandvlieWith this in mind, will be hosting 67 minutes of cleaning up the Zandvlei Estuary in Muizenberg, Cape Town. “Estuaries, which are often referred to as the "nurseries of the sea", are critically important for the survival of a wide range of species” said Angela Lee-Wright, General Manager at, commenting on the importance of preserving the area. “Zandvlei, which is down the road from our offices, is a very popular venue for boating enthusiasts, dog walkers, children and people from around Cape Town who enjoy using the public areas and facilities on the weekend. Due to this fact, we believe that a conscious effort should be spent on ensuring that this protected wetland is kept clear of pollution, especially as it flows into the ocean” she said. She feels that this is possible through getting local communities and businesses involved and hopes for the initiative to be continued beyond Mandela Day.
