The low flow shower head has been around for some time and thankfully many builders, contractors and plumbers are already installing these into new showers and newly built houses. The average household shower expels approximately 15 litres of water per minute. A shower that has a water saving shower head fitted will expel approximately 9 or 10 litres per minute. Checking to see whether your current adjustable shower head is saving water is simple; just follow the quick instructions below:
To check whether or not your shower head can be considered a water saving shower head, simply find a 2 litre jug, turn your shower on to full power and hold the jug immediately below the shower head. If the jug fills up with water in less than 11 seconds, then your shower head is basically expelling too much water in too little time and is therefore not classified as being a low flow shower head. If it takes longer than approximately 11 seconds then you can be rest assured that your beautiful chrome shower head is already saving you water.
Sustainable.co.za stocks the highest quality low flow shower heads, from adjustable shower heads, the oxygenics shower head, and aerated showers heads (which enable you to shower in a gentle mist), to water saving rain shower heads that resemble a shower outdoors in the heavy Cape Town winter rain.
